8 Celebrity Couples Who Work Out Together
If exercising with your partner sounds like a sweaty disaster or a fight waiting to happen (did they need to tell you your squat form was off?), maybe these celebrity couples who work out together can change your mind. There are lots of perks (we swear). It’s a great way to spend time with your partner in a different setting — one that gives you a playfully competitive outlet plus an opportunity to encourage each other. And nothing brings you together like pushing each other through those last few reps (and commiserating afterward, of course).
It certainly works for these celeb couples. Take Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, who were workout buddies before they became husband and wife and have kept up their healthy couple ways after tying the knot. Then there’s Victoria Beckham, who posts shirtless thirst traps of her former soccer star husband during their workouts, while Gabrielle Union says Dwyane Wade’s six-pack is her motivation. We’re not saying every couple that sweats together stays together (looking at you, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez), but it seems to work for some. “It’s our own private time before the house wakes up to love on each other and love on ourselves,” Union wrote on Instagram of her workouts with Wade. “Intimacy can take many forms.” We second that — and would like to add, sweaty can be sexy too! These celeb couples who work out together definitely prove it.

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker went from workout buddies to celebrity super couple. As Barker told People in 2024, he and Kardashian “were workout buddies for forever. It was what started it all… we would always work out together and run together or do stuff like that together before we were ever in a relationship.”
Kardashian and Barker, who got married in 2022 and welcomed a son, Rocky, in November 2023, still prioritize fitness together. “We’ll do Pilates together, we’ll carve out a half hour or an hour every day to go out,” Barker said. “It’s amazing to be with someone that has the same love for wellness.”

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake
Jessica Biel often posts snippets of her workouts and yoga flows on Instagram, and every once in a while, her famous husband makes a cameo. Sometimes that means Timberlake is helping her hit a handstand to live out her “totally irrational Cirque du Soleil dream”; other times, it’s Timberlake trying to distract her from hitting a challenging lunge-squat combo move. And when he’s not making her laugh through the reps, Timberlake will join her for more serious sweat sessions.
“We’ll work with a trainer and just do different circuits and do different types of cardio training or sprinting, just different things depending on what we’re working on and goals we’re trying to hit at the time,” Biel told Self in 2018. “It doesn’t always happen, but it’s so nice to have a partner when you’re doing a workout. It’s something my husband and I really enjoy doing together—we both are workout enthusiasts.”

Victoria and David Beckham
Victoria and David Beckham love to show each other off on Instagram, and we love to see it. The fashion designer and former soccer star often post snippets of their workouts together, usually with a cheeky caption to top it off. “Saturday morning workout with this fit guy! You’re welcome!!!” Victoria captioned one shirtless photo of David in 2024. “While one of us works really hard… the other one looks great not doing much,” she added in another shot, showing her husband lounging with a massage gun while scrolling his phone.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky
Chris Hemsworth’s superhero-style muscles may be world famous, but actress and model Elsa Pataky, Hemsworth’s wife since 2010, can definitely hold her own with the Thor actor. To get in shape for her 2022 movie Interceptor, Pataky relied on Centr, the health and fitness app that Hemsworth founded, to “build strength and muscle,” Pataky wrote on Instagram. The caption accompanied a montage of Pataky taking on body-sculpting moves to target her back and shoulders. The famous couple’s kids have even gotten in on the fitness fun too, scrambling around their expansive home gym like a giant playground.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union
It’s not surprise that a couple consisting of a retired basketball player and a Bring It On star keep fitness a priority. Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union are each other’s motivation, literally. As Union said in a 2022 Instagram caption, “I used to clown couples that worked out together but now I’m that sucka that looks forward to our 6am sweat sessions. When I wanna give up, I just look to my side and get that push and smile from @dwyanewade and I thug it out.”
In another video, Union showed exactly what a workout looks like with the two stars pushing each other. “’Why do you work out like that, Gab? You work out so much,’” Union said, before gesturing to a shirtless Wade walking around their home gym. As she wrote in text on the video, “Just trying to keep up witchu playa.”
And it’s not just about challenging each other either: Wade and Union use their workouts as a time to connect. “It’s our own private time before the house wakes up to love on each other and love on ourselves,” Union explained. “Intimacy can take many forms.”

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos
Mark Consuelos used to give Kelly Ripa a gym membership every year for Christmas — and it didn’t exactly go to good use. “Every year, you purchased me a gym membership. … And every year I didn’t use it,” Ripa reminisced to Consuelos on a January 2024 episode of their talk show, Live With Kelly and Mark, per People. “Then it dawned on me, ‘Oh my gosh, he’s trying to tell me something!’” Ripa continued. Consuelos maintained that his motivation was pure — “it’s a lifestyle!” he said — and Ripa eventually realized exercise “was good for me. I’m glad that you stuck with it.”
Both sides of this famous couple are now equally into fitness, with Ripa getting in workouts with Shakira’s trainer Anna Kaiser, per Women’s Health. Occasionally, they also make time for a sweat sesh together, including some acrobatic-looking couples yoga on vacation.

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell
Why use a barbell when you can just do squats with your partner? Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell get it, as a 2021 Instagram video proved. “Anything to keep us busy at home,” Bell captioned the video, which shows Shepard busting through some squats with Bell perched on his shoulders (and laughing nonstop). They’ve also shown off an intense couples workout in front of their RV, complete with a weight set, a bench, and exercises like lunges and push-ups.
And it sounds like Shepard and Bell are passing their love of exercise on to their two daughters, teaching them that physical activity can help to manage their feelings. “My kids know that if they’re feeling a tantrum come on, one of the tools in their toolbox is to go outside and kick the soccer ball, or jump on the trampoline, or put their roller skates on and go as fast as they can,” Bell told Today in 2024. “I have found that physical output is a real helper for regulating their emotions.”

Michael Phelps and Nicole Phelps
Sure, Michael Phelps might be retired now, but the most decorated Olympian of all time still prioritizes staying fit and healthy, and he’s often joined by his wife and former Miss California Nicole Phelps in their (extremely cool) home gym. The couple loves lifting together, with Nicole writing on Instagram that Michael “encouraged me to start lifting with him 3xs a week… I have never felt stronger or more confident in my body than I do now.” For Nicole, who later said she’d “never lifted in my life,” the new habit helped her fall in love with the process of getting stronger. “Growing up I was afraid to lift a single weight because ‘my muscles would be too big for a girl,’” she continued. “My muscles empower me today. They make me feel strong and proud. They help me lift my boys, sometimes 2 at a time, 3 if I’m low enough!” Sometimes the kiddos even join their parents in the gym, though their youngest, born January 2024, isn’t quite ready to grab the dumbbells yet.
