Last week I was interviewed on the ‘Cracking Addiction’ podcast with Dr Ferghal Armstrong. It was a tight 20 minutes (I was just getting started by the end) but we managed to cover quite a bit of ground, including:

  • How Appreciative Inquiry facilitation differs from the ‘expert diagnosis and prescription’ model of traditional consulting
  • How to activate the creative, open ‘Default Mode/empathic’ brain network and escape from the usual ‘Task Positive/analytical’ mode that we’re in at work most of the time
  • Why ‘flipping’ problems and having generative conversations leads to better results when dealing with complex problems

… and lots more!

If you work in addiction treatment, it’s well worth subscribing to the Cracking Addiction podcast (in Australia at least, you can get CPD points for listening via hiro.fm).

Thanks to Dr Ferghal Armstrong and producer Tony Laughton for inviting me!
